Ruud to play in legends game

Former Manchester United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy has been confirmed as the latest big name to appear in their legends game with Real Madrid at Old Trafford on 2 June.

Van Nistelrooy intends to play for both teams in the fixture, allowing him the opportunity to finally acknowledge the support of the United fans during his successful five-year spell at the club.

The Dutchman scored 150 goals for the Red Devils but was sold to Real Madrid for £12million in July 2006 after rumours of a falling out with Sir Alex Ferguson.

"I won trophies at Manchester United and Real Madrid," said Van Nistelrooy.

"Playing at Old Trafford gave me so many unforgettable experiences, so to come back and play in front of the fans again makes this a really special event."
