PSV's Kevin Strootman is rumoured to be off to English champions Manchester United.
After tracking the box to box midfield for several months the signing
of Strootman now seems inevitable with several bookmakers suspending
bets on where the Dutch midfielder will end up next season.
New
manager David Moyes has identified the midfield as a key area that needs
strengthening in the United squad and reportedly feels the 23 year old
Dutchman will go some way to filling the gap left behind by the retired
Paul Scholes. The versatile midfielder can perform in a variety of roles
but is best suited as a box to box midfielder, the type of player
United are in dire need of.
It is believed Strootman would lift
some of the pressure off of last season?s star midfielder Michael
Carrick and would be a suitable partner to the ageing Englishman. The
arrival of the PSV man would enable Carrick to venture forward more,
something which he was seldom able to do last season due to his
defensive responsibilities.
It is rumoured the transfer fee
would be in the region of ?17 million although no official confirmation
of a transfer has come from either party involved
